The sun was out in full force for the Lavender Bay Wedding of Aundrea and Ardie on a freakishly hot labour day weekend in Sydney.
My day started out with the boys in their hotel in the city. Aged whisky, playing cards and beards were the order of the day, and we made the most of the cramped quarters to get some fun prep shots.
Next stop via my trusty steed a.k.a. scooter was just up the road in the much fancier Establishment Hotel, where I found Aundrea, her lovely Peruvian mama and a posse of girls including Michaela from X Factor (I admit I had no idea and had to google her later – she’s very talented!)
Truth be told, I have a love/hate relationship with summer weddings at Lavender Bay. Love because of its proximity to the quaint Wendy’s Secret Garden; hate because there’s very little shade, and on a sunny day, it’s pretty relentless. I’ve seen grooms pass out here before!
Anyway, Aundrea and Ardie’s bridal party was made of much harder stuff, and we got through the solarium to spend a couple of fun hours in the garden, on the beach, and at Luna Park for a whole variety of different photos.
The speeches during the reception were real tear-jerkers! Ardie did his very best to hold it together during his emotional roller coaster ride of a speech, then it was time to hit the dance floor, with an all-star cast of musicians and Ardie himself doing his version of Whiplash in a wedding suit!
All in all an exhausting but very entertaining day! Here are a few of my favourite photos.
