One of the benefits of being an Event Photographer is being exposed to different worlds that I know very little about. This event courtesy of Marrickville Council saw the LGBTIQ community (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Questioning’) gather with locals to support and discuss their place in society today. Newtown is fast becoming the LGBTIQ capital of Sydney, and so it was fitting to hold the event at the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre.
The event was given pace by host Julie McCrossin, an entertaining and talented broadcaster who is also a gay activist. The Mayor of Marrickville Jo Haylen (pictured last) also made an appearance to show her support and listen to the personal concerns and issues of local residents.
