Surry Hills is one of my favourite suburbs in Sydney and I’m lucky enough to be living right next to it. Crown street is the heart of the Hills’ community, lined with quirky cafes, restaurants, shops and bars, and running parallel to it is Bourke Street, home to the popular Bourke Street Bakery and my favourite bike shop Deus.
Talking of bikes, Saturday was the ‘Woop! Rolling Festival’ which took place along the Bourke Street cycleway. You had the usual mix of hipsters on their fixies through to the lycra/carbon fibre brigade, and I had fun trying to take a few photos between them all of the people having a stroll on a fine spring afternoon in Sydney.
This isn’t really ‘Street Photography’ in its classic sense; it’s rather me just plucking up the courage to interrupt people on the street to try and get a good portrait of them within 20 seconds of saying hello!
